Magenta & Squash Blossom

In case you didn’t see, I did a little trip to Brooklyn. When in New York, no regular ole clothes will do, you gotta step it up. I was gifted some absolutely beautiful pieces from some incredibly talented women designers/entrepreneurs, so I decided that I had to have a little shoot in DUMBO. (Which began with a four-mile one bike ride through Brooklyn in this getup. Worth it, almost, until it was time to do another four on the way back.)

While some of you may want to hear about the ride, I’m here to talk about this look. (Don’t worry though, there’s a “24 Hours in NYC” guide on the way.) The dress was a gift from Family Affairs, a brand I’ve been in love with since just about the beginning of my blog. This style is called the My Song dress, and it’s the magenta version. Dreamy would be an understatement—I love the way it drapes and gently flows in the most elegant way. The cut is reminiscent of the spaghetti westerns I’ve come to love so much, which is why a gorgeous squash blossom-inspired necklace from Sticks & Stones. The Moons + Junes Pendant (a collaboration with Both Sides Bridal) was the perfect compliment for a modern prairie dress. To finish it off, I paired it with some modern cowboy boots by Fendi. All that’s missing is my urban sombrero.

I think Brooklyn brings out the best in me. If only I could afford to live there…
